MILAN 2.0: Reunion of +2 batch 1999-2000 Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom.
I knew it was going to be fun -the schoolmates meeting after long 15 years. Though my role was that of a chaperon accompanying my wife, I expected something at stake for me too. But what I experienced was beyond expectations. The warmth, the love, the affection, the trust –must tell you guys, I was really overwhelmed.
Devu was in high spirits. She was really thrilled to meet her schoolmates. The preparations were on for almost a month. Calling, Whatsapping -she was always busy. I too was enjoying seeing her new face, which I have never seen. After taking part in my school reunion some months back, I knew she was also yearning for something fun filled and nostalgic like that to happen.
Milan 2.0 was dream come true for her. Kannan was really enthused to see the school girl like face of his mom. By the way, he was the one who enjoyed the most at the gathering. Though I was the senior citizen in the group that assembled there, they made me shed all those extra years. Each and every guy was running behind my comfort, which made me feel someone special. I really had to try hard to make them believe that I was also one among them.
White socks, football, imposition, morning bell, class monitor -everything was there. And above all ONE WAY LOVE!!! Hardly anyone resembled the faces I saw in that old class photograph. When my wife introduced one by one, my journalistic mind was trying to match those real faces to those ones in the school photo in which I miserably failed. Moustaches, beards and other signs of prosperity prevailed.
Apart from enjoying a great evening, there is a feel that I gained a lot. In my experience, friendship is the largest wealth. I have really amassed some wealth through Milan 2.0. Thank you Devu for giving me these new friends…
